Imagine Publishing’s camera comparison website receives improved functionality and a whole new look

Digicambuyer.co.uk, the website of Digital Camera Essentials magazine, has received a dramatic redesign to allow for quicker and easier access as well as a powerful, simple-to-use search and comparison engine.

With hundreds of reviews to call on from the pages of Digital Camera Essentials, which is approaching its 90th issue, Digicambuyer.co.uk aims to present the consumer with the best possible advice on their next digital camera purchase, as well as giving direct links to trusted retail websites via Pricegrabber. Up to four cameras can be compared on specifications, intended usage and review ratings, giving the user an immediate, on-screen method of weighing up the best model.

Digicambuyer.co.uk also offers a plethora of features, tutorials and accessories reviews as well as the latest photography news. The redesign of the website has been a collaborative process between both the editorial team and interactive department within Imagine Publishing, completely rebuilding the previous site to better cater to
the increasing needs of the prosumer looking for impartial buying advice.

“Dedicated to helping our readers find the right kit, the Digicambuyer team have been hard at work making sure all the latest camera, lens and peripheral reviews are available free online,” said Editor in Chief, Debbi Allen. “Digicambuyer.co.uk is designed to be intuitive to use and allow visitors to compare up to four expert reviews, side by side. Coupled with new technology like the Apple iPhone, this means users can check camera reviews and be sure of expert, up-to-the-minute advice on the go.”

Head of Digital Projects (Online), Ben Spencer, added: “We are extremely happy with the decision to relaunch and have completely redeveloped the site in-house. The Interactive team has produced an extremely user-friendly and feature-packed site, making it one of the top camera review websites on the web.”

“The relaunched Digicambuyer.co.uk site reflects the brand values of our print offering, Digital Camera Essentials, and is a fantastic digital platform for our advertisers to engage with their target audience,” commented James Hanslip, Head of Sales.

Congratulations everyone - we've reached our 5000th image on the gallery. Woooo hoooo!Have you guys seen the photo books produced by Blurb yet? They even help you market and sell your books too, which is awesome for the aspiring photographer or artist. Summer flop

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Don't know about you but is this week dragging or what?! Maybe it's the the prospect of the Bank holiday weekend looming, or maybe just that the sun's gone in. All I know is that after a brief glimpse of sun two weeks ago, I've lost that summer feeling. So if anyone has some bright sunny pictures they could brighten my day with then I'd love to see them on the gallery. Alternatively, enter our forum challenge. This month's theme is 'Perfect summer holiday' so i'm looking forward to a fair few glimpses of paradise in this comp! http://www.photoshopcreative.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2312

Going to press…

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

It's been a day of proofing and manic last minute tweaks today as it's deadline for Issue 36. In just a couple of hours time the issue will be flying through cyberspace as we send it off to the printers (or that's the plan anyway!) So tomorrow we'll be checking all the pages have uploaded to the printer's website and approving each and every one. Meanwhile as Dani and me are getting a bit moody, our colleagues Julie and Adam from Advanced Photoshop are swanning off to the rather swanky D&AD awards ceremony tonight in London. I'll make sure I get all the goss from them tomorrow and fill you in on all the news! Now back to the proofing…where was I?

Gallery talent

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Well we're fast approaching our 5000th image on the gallery, which is fantastic news. The Photoshop Creative website has had such a huge response, with some fantastic uploads of artwork. With such a massive influx of images, it's tricky to always get round to each and every one to comment, so I urge you all to give each other moral support and give gallery users your much-appreciated opinions on their work. This is not a site for sucking up to each other - the best way to improve is to be critiqued, so be sure to compliment and offer advice and opinions to help each other grow in confidence and skill.Be sure to check out the latest gallery showcase picks too - there is some fantastic work from Christopher Haines and Freddy Camargo, which is well worth a look!
