A retro effect doesn’t have to mean old; we can give it a fresh and modern twist…

1. Tweak colour

Go retro with the Curves adjustment. Lower the highlights of the Red channel, lift the shadows of the Green one and apply both to the Blue channel.

2. Add style

Place a Bokeh on top of the Curves adjustment layer, set the blend mode to Screen. Go to Layer>Layer Mask> Reveal All. Click on the mask and use a soft, black brush to paint over the model.

3. Enter the flare

Place a flare on top of the Bokeh layer. Set blend mode to Screen, go to Layer>Layer Mask>Reveal All. Click on the mask and use a soft black brush to paint over the model as before.

4. Rosy cheeks

Create a new layer. Pick a colour for your Foreground, set the blend mode to Colour and Opacity to 35%. Paint over the cheeks using a softer brush than for the lips.
