How Bram Vanhaeren created this amazing image for Photoshop’s 25 Under 25
First I drew the eyes, lips and nose, after finding an interesting subject to work with. Before I get into designing my portraits, I make sure these facial details are completely on point. When the facial features look good, you can hardly do anything wrong!
After checking that everything looked good for the main details, I continued to add more depth with different shades of grey, from dark to light. I’ve perfected my style over the years and understand where to draw lines for depth.
I would have drawn the portrait mostly with the Pen tool up until this point, but for the final step, I coloured it in using colourful layers and mixes using all kinds of blend modes in the picture to help create a mysterious atmosphere.
