We ask Gianfranco Gallo more about how he made this running-inspired piece for a possible advert
The first stage is to create a simple draft of the idea, sketching it all out so that you can see what will work and what won’t. This is a good time to compose and find all the right elements that will be useful for the project.
Next, I imported a model of a Nike shoe that I found on stock sites. I built a city that exists within and around the shoe using CINEMA 4D. Careful blending and colouring were applied to give it a warm atmosphere.
To complete the final scene, additional elements were added such as the Nike logo and a pair of legs. Gradient Maps, the Pen tool, Refine Edge, as well as special paintbrushes all helped to blend the layers.
