Photoshop Tips: Non-destructive cloning

Make sure your cloning edits do not have a permanent effect on your image

 

When we want to remove an object from a photo one of the tools we can use is the Clone Stamp.

This enables you to replace one area with the pixels of another.

To make a non-destructive clone we simple make a layer above the original layer, and then set the Clone Stamp tool to sample Current & Below layers in the Options bar. This way the original pixels remain unchanged.
