If you like working with tabs in Photoshop, here’s a quick tip for opening files straight into the interface
An image can be ‘placed’ into Photoshop by dragging it from your desktop and onto a currently open image.
The Place method will make sure that the dragged photo fits inside the existing document’s canvas, and can then be transformed.
If you don’t want to Place the image however, drag it from your desktop into an empty space in the dark grey bit where the tabs are kept. This opens the image as a new file.
