A great way to adapt colours after they’ve been applied is using a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer
Take for example this watercolour painting. We could try adding a Color Overlay style to each layer of the composition, but instead add a Hue/Saturation adjustment.
Either go to Layer>New Adjustment Layer in Photoshop, or simply go to the bottom of the Layers palette to find all adjustment layers.
Inside Hue/Saturation, simply shift all colours by sliding Hue around, or certain colours by clicking the hand symbol and holding Cmd (Mac)/ Ctrl (Wins).
Then, clicking and dragging on a colour will shift its hue value regardless of other colours in the composition.
