Thursday’s Q&A day…

Make sure there’s plenty of light in the portrait before starting out in Elements. Position your model by a window and keep the highlights on the face. To make it look like authentic moonlight, add the Photo Filter adjustment layer (Filter>Adjustments) and then choose a cooling effect for the blue tones over the entire image.

Use the Burn tool (O) to paint along the outside of the image for a shadow effect and heavier contrast. The finishing touch to this artwork is made by adding a cool tone Gradient Map and the Dry Brush filter. The key ingradients are the Dodge and Burn tools and a Photo Filter adjustment to balance light and colour. Once these have been mastered, there are no limits as to how romantic you can make the image – just your desires!
