How can I use the Clone Stamp creatively?

Ask us a question and we could answer it in the magazine!

The Clone Stamp tool is a fantastic aid when retouching. It can copy areas of your image to other places, just by Opt/Alt-clicking before you brush. For creative purposes you can clone from one document to the next. Open a collection of reference images, and using the Photo Bin at the bottom of the screen, flick between them and your project, Opt/Alt-clicking on various textures before applying them to your picture.

You can build up compositions this way, rather like masking, except you don’t have to position anything: you simply brush wherever you want the effect to be placed.
