Expand selections in Photoshop

After making a selection, a quick way to increase its size is to go the Select menu and down to Modify>Expand.

Enter the amount of pixels you want the selection to move outwards by, and hit OK.

You can also hop into the Refine Edge menu and to the Shift Edge slider, however this only lets you go so far.
